Has having an under active thyroid effected your pregnancy?

I have an under active thyroid and fingers crossed I’m pregnant. It’s very early days (my period is due on sunday) and I’ve just read that having an under active thyroid can cause infertility and miscarriage in early pregnancy ?! I do take medication for my thyroid (levethyroxine) but this news has really shaken me!!!
Has anyone else with an under active experienced complications during pregnancy ? or does anyone have any words of advise for me?

I had an under active thyroid before i got pregnant. i stopped the levothyroxine immediately when i thought that i might be. when the doc ran my blood tests about a month later, my thyroid was working fine. so pregnancy corrected my thyroid problem? at least for the time being. not sure if it will go back to being under active after the baby comes or not. I’m due Feb 6 so I guess i’ll find out after that. lol.
I am on the same medication as you. I got pregnant a few weeks after going off the pill. I had no problems with my pregnancy due to my thyroid. Just continue your medication, your doctor will probably do a couple of test to make sure your levels remain ‘normal’ during pregnancy.. Don’t worry. Enjoy your pregnancy.
I have been on Levoxyl since before my 1st son was born (2 1/2 years ago) for a mild case of hypothyroidism. I never had any problems concieving, carrying or delivering my him and no problems with this pregnancy so far.
As long as you are getting the proper dosage of medication and taking it as prescribed, you will be just fine. I’m not sure how extreme your hypothyroidism is though – I know severe cases of it can cause fertility problems. But if it’s just slightly underactive and well controlled with medicine, you should be fine.
Talk about these concerns with your doctor – he/she knows your history best and will be able to give you the most accurate information.
(By the way…I’m not sure why the two previous answerers quit taking thier meds when they got pregnant, but it’s completely safe to take during pregnancy and in fact, your baby needs it to grow.)
I am also hypo thyroid and though I did miscarry twice, it had nothing to do with my thyroid. I was closely monitored for hormone levels and they were never anything but perfect. As long as you have a good OB or Endo and they keep track of you closely, your under active thyroid should cause you little or no problems. Complications arise when people are not well controlled before and during their pregnancy.
BTW NEVER stop taking your medication without first consulting your doctor!
